BINGOER LEFT SHAKING AFTER BIG WIN
24/12/2007

A recent win could be set to make this Christmas an extra special one for a bingo player from Hartlepool.

The 75-year-old married woman, who does not wish to be named, picked up the £90 house prize at the Mecca Bingo club in the town's Warrior Retail Park

And although this is a sum unlikely to be sniffed at by many UK bingo fans, the anonymous winner may be more interested in the £17,500 bingo jackpot she is to take home after winning the national prize, after calling house in 42 numbers.

She told the Hartlepool Mail: "I was delighted to be told how much I had won, but I was so shocked that I sat there shaking."

And although she has not yet decided on what she will spend the money on, the winner pointed out that her family could well receive some festive goodies.

However, her good nature also extends to the staff in the club and her bingo-loving peers.

"I enjoy playing there because the other players are friendly and the staff are absolutely excellent," she added.

Earlier this month, a 50-year-old Heaton Norris bingoer claimed she is set to have a "wonderful Christmas" after winning a £45,000 UK bingo jackpot.
