BINGO CALLER AIMS TO BE FIRST SCOTTISH CALLER
10/11/2005

The competition to become the UK's Bingo Caller of the Year is hotting up, as six finalists prepare to go head to head later this month.

Among their number is Graeme Garioch of Aberdeen – who is on something of a roll, having scooped the Scottish title as recently as September.

His manager at Aberdeen's Mecca club, Gary Lindsay, has pulled out the stops to support his employee's case, telling the Aberdeen Independent that Graeme has all the attributes necessary to ensure that he takes home the star prize.

He said: "He is totally professional and popular with the staff and customers alike – but more than this he makes a difference to every customer who comes through the door, with his great sense of humour and genuine caring attitude. I am sure he will do us proud."

The odds on Graeme winning the contest – and thus receiving the Golden Microphone award and the chance to ply his trade temporarily in Las Vegas – have been placed at an inviting 9/1 by William Hill as he bids to be the first Scot to win the title.
