BINGO WINNER WENT TO PIECES
25/02/2008A recent bingo winner lost her head when all around her were keeping theirs, it has been revealed.
The £10,000 Afternoon Delight UK bingo jackpot was scooped by a pensioner from West Denton at the Gateshead Gala Bingo club recently.
She plays at the venue twice a week, the operating body for UK bingo reported, along with a friend who is to take an equal share in the prize.
"Everybody at the club started clapping when it was announced and the staff were so lovely, but I just went to pieces," she told National Bingo.
"It's all such a lovely surprise," she added, revealing plans to go on holiday with her friend.
While she was not sure where they would be going, she suggested Jersey as a likely destination.
Players at the Gateshead Gala Bingo hall have claimed more than £1.4 million in recent years, according to figures from National Bingo.
