UK BINGO JACKPOT SURPRISE FOR DUBLINER
17/03/2008Many winners of the UK bingo jackpot say they are surprised to find out how much they have scooped.
But for one recent victor, the shock may have been more than for most, as she tells National Bingo.
"I didn't realise I had been playing the national game - it is not played in Ireland," 59-year-old Eileen Higgins explains to the operating body.
As a result, she had to be told that her win had claimed the UK bingo jackpot of £28,675 and not just the club and regional prizes of £80 and £2,051 respectively.
Her success came at the Gala Bingo club in Rowlands Road, Worthing, during a visit to her granddaughter's christening.
"I'll probably take a holiday with my husband - perhaps to Spain or America - and I may go on a shopping spree," she adds.
Members of the Worthing Gala Bingo venue have now shared in jackpots of more than £1 million in total.
