RETIREMENT PLAN FOR BINGO GRAN
30/04/2008A 62-year-old grandmother has announced plans to retire after winning nearly half a million pounds at the bingo.
Her victory came in the UK bingo platinum jackpot play-off - although she did not realise it at the time.
She explains to the game's operating body that the regional and club prizes of £3,267 were more than satisfactory.
But her luck did not end there, as the platinum jackpot paid her a further £405,530, along with a share of the regular national sum of £40,000.
"I am sharing with my daughter and we both screamed and cried when they told us how much we had won," the lucky punter told National Bingo.
"I didn't sleep at all that night and it still won't sink in."
Meanwhile, a player from Cumbernauld saw her previous biggest win of £200 eclipsed as she also hit it big on the platinum jackpot.
A total of £270,486 headed her way after she claimed victory at the town's Gala Bingo venue.
