NO PENSION PINCH FOR MECCA BINGO WINNER

While the newspapers may be full of warnings about the credit crunch, one Mecca Bingo member saw her pension pinch eased recently, it has been revealed.

The 60-year-old retired in June upon reaching her birthday, leaving her with more free time to enjoy her twice-weekly visits to Mecca Bingo's Hunslet venue.

After completing a full house in 42 calls, she achieved her biggest ever win, securing £33,000 on the UK bingo national jackpot game.

She tells the game's operating body National Bingo: "I phoned my husband, who doesn't play bingo, from the club to tell him how much I had won and he was gobsmacked."

The lucky winner adds that she is likely to take a holiday while working out how to spend her winnings.

But some of the total has already been earmarked to go to her sister, who accompanies her to the Mecca Bingo club.

Sisterly sharing has been a feature of UK bingo news recently, after two Wrexham siblings also told National Bingo of their plans to split their £18,000 prize.
