WOMAN SCOOPS GALA HIGH 5
09/12/2008A woman from Sheffield has won £174,367 at her local Gala Bingo Club.
The 45-year-old Stannington woman was playing the recently launched Gala Bingo High 5 jackpot game at the Gala Bingo on Halifax Road in the city.
The game is increasingly popular among the bingo community as it sees remaining winnings shared out between other members of the jackpot winners club.
All 110 players at the Sheffield Gala Bingo on the night of the win got a share of the remaining £165,352.
The winner said that it was a wonderful feeling to win the jackpot.
"A lady came up to me in the toilets and said 'you've really made my Christmas' - that just says it all," she said.
The deputy manager of the club Russell Coggan said that 110 players had taken home £1,503, which really meant something to them just before Christmas.
A woman from Brighton recently scooped more than £300,000 on the same game, even though she had only played bingo twice before.
