COUPLE FROM WREXHAM CELEBRATE BINGO WIN
07/01/2009A couple from Wrexham are celebrating after winning more than £4,000 while playing bingo.
Tao Powell, who is married to Les, the landlord of The Commercial pub in Wrexham, won £4,200 after going along to play bingo with a friend, the Evening Leader reports.
Mr Powell told the newspaper he was so shocked when his wife called him that he thought she was joking to get a lift home.
"Tao was saying she had won all this money. I immediately took it as a bit of a joke, that she was just winding me up and trying to get a lift back home," he commented.
The couple plan to spend the money on a visit to Mrs Powell's sister, who lives in Los Angeles.
After the win, customers in The Commercial enjoyed drinks on the house.
If Mrs Powell's luck continues she could match lucky granddad Brian Parker from Huddersfield.
Unluckyforsome recently reported that Mr Parker managed to win more than 100 bingo games during 2008.
