OBAMA GAME RAISES 10K FOR CHARITY
26/01/2009An online bingo game set up in honour of the inauguration of US president Barack Obama raised approximately £10,000 for charity.
According to Third Sector, the Mrs Obama's Bingo Game raised thousands for serious illness charity Sue Ryder Care.
The game was backed by Gala Bingo and was promoted by Obama's stepmother Kezia Obama.
The source reports that Gala Bingo ran the promotion for an hour every day between January 14th and 23rd.
In related news, a woman from Derby is celebrating after scooping £27,000 in a bingo game.
According to This Is Derbyshire, the housewife paid just over £11 for her ticket.
She told the newspaper that going to play bingo had been a "last-minute decision" and that she had never played before.
"It was a last-minute decision to go to the club but I'm so happy I did. I've never played bingo before and I've gone in and hit the jackpot. It still hasn't sunk in," she commented.
