ONLINE BINGO STRONG DESPITE RECESSION

The online bingo sector is still "going strong" despite the ongoing economic turmoil in the UK, it has been claimed.

Phil Fraser, owner of WhichBingo.co.uk, said that the online bingo sector is continuing to grow as much of its target audience would not be affected by the financial trouble in the UK.

He said that as online bingo is often targeted at those on fixed incomes, some players would be unaffected by the credit crunch and "would continue playing as much as ever".

As well as this, the online bingo sector could actually benefit from the recession, he claimed.

Figures from a recent Global Betting and Gaming Consultants' Interactive Gambling Survey show that an increasingly large number of people may be choosing to stay in rather than go out, to save money.

This could help give a boost to the online bingo sector, he said.

According to a study called Bingo in the Digital Age, active player numbers for online bingo rose by 80 per cent between June and December last year.
