MP TURNS BINGO CALLER FOR THE DAY
20/04/2009Foreign Secretary David Miliband visited the north of England to visit a Mecca Bingo hall over the weekend, after being invited to the hall by chief executive Ian Burke, it has been reported.
And while he was at the Mecca Bingo in South Shields, Tyneside, Mr Miliband tried his hand at bingo calling, notes the Shields Gazette.
Mr Miliband was invited to the hall to watch a presentation by Mr Burke, who is campaigning for the abolition of the double taxes which bingo halls currently have to pay.
"I thought this would be a good opportunity for him to meet with the people from his constituency and see just how important bingo is to them," said Mr Burke.
The club''s current bingo caller Blake Robson told the source that Mr Miliband was a fantastic stand-in caller.
Mecca Bingo online is currently offering players the chance to play several online versions of popular games including Monopoly and Cluedo.
