HOW TO BE A GOOD BINGO CM

For many people, playing bingo is as much about the sense of community as it is about the chance of winning big money.

But when playing online bingo, friends are not always right there in the room - at least not in the flesh.

Luckily most UK bingo websites offer a chat room, allowing those taking part in the games to have a bit of banter as well.

Along with this, there are usually CMs to keep things in order, making sure the people in the room do not get out of hand.

Depending on which UK bingo site you visit, CM could stand for chat master, chat moderator or chat manager.

But the importance of being a good CM is highlighted each year as the nation's online bingo venues fight it out for the coveted title of CM of the Year.

In 2007 this was won by Bingo Scotland, ahead of its sibling Think Bingo and the previous year's runner-up Mecca Bingo.

Gala Bingo explains that a chat moderator should always be on hand to greet visitors to its site when they log in.

The CMs play an important role, making sure nothing "disrupts the flow" of the chat games and helping players to enjoy their time at the site.

"If there is a problem or issue that our chat moderators cannot solve for you, then they will be only too happy to instruct you what the next course of action is," Gala Bingo adds.

Along with their job as peacekeeper in the room, the CMs also have the task of announcing each new game as it begins.

They should also make sure everyone knows the instructions for the next round, Gala Bingo says.

With a nation of online bingo fans relying on them for information and assistance, the CMs certainly have a weight on their shoulders.

But that doesn't seem to stop the good ones from making sure UK bingo websites remain fun for all who visit them.
