GALA BINGO NOTES NEED FOR SPEED

UK bingo callers need to work at the right pace in order to allow players to keep track of their cards, it has been suggested.

Gala Bingo explains that callers sometimes have to cater for relatively large crowds and find a pace to suit everybody.

The assertion comes from Nikki Marshall, account executive, following Gala Bingo's 2008 Caller of the Year competition.

In this year's contest, the honours went to Michael Edwards, making him the second person in the history of the event to take the top spot twice.

Ms Marshall says: "I think he's quite experienced - they test on stage presence and interview technique."

She adds: "During the finals they actually played a lot of live games to about 300 people."

As such, she notes that it is important not to go too fast for people to keep up, or too slow that the game does not progress at a reasonable pace.
