The Advertising Standards Authority (ASA) has sided with Foxy Bingo on a dispute relating to its £10 of free online bingo credit given to new members.
Shadow secretary of state for culture, media and sport Don Foster objected to advertisements claiming that new Foxy Bingo members are given £10 with which to play online bingo for free.
He argued that the credit is not truly free, as a deposit must be made in order to withdraw any winnings.
But the ASA pointed out that the deposit may also be subsequently withdrawn, meaning no money is lost overall.
The authority also expressed its support for Foxy Bingo on the grounds that the UK bingo operator makes clear that the £10 is intended to be spent on buying cards at the site.
A 100 per cent deposit match on initial payments into accounts at the site also allows players to boost their balances by up to £150.
